The Opportunity:
Facilities Site Project Manager
Avantor is looking for a Facilities Site Project Manager to join our team at the Hichrom site in Theale, Reading. This role involves working in a scientific production environment, ensuring the site meets statutory inspection requirements, and managing essential site services.
Responsibilities:
Facilities and Operations:
1. Ensure compliance with statutory inspection requirements.
2. Collaborate with the EHS team to maintain safety-critical equipment.
3. Manage essential site services including security, maintenance, utilities, cleaning, waste disposal, and recycling.
4. Monitor and trend energy and environmental data, investigate variances, and promote positive trends.
5. Upload sustainability data to corporate reporting systems monthly.
6. Maintain records for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.
7. Prepare construction phase plans and health and safety files as required.
8. Respond to emergencies or urgent issues and provide timely reports.
9. Review site layout for safe operating practices and operational efficiencies.
10. Develop and implement an equipment management system and ensure routine preventative maintenance.
11. Prepare annual forecasts for site spend and document facility-related changes via the Change Management process.
Contractor and Visitor Management:
1. Conduct inductions for all site visitors.
2. Manage the site permit to work systems.
3. Handle contract management, including raising purchase orders and handling invoice queries.
4. Prepare scope documents for tenders/quotes and manage contractor documentation.
5. Monitor contractor performance and apply intervention techniques as necessary.
Project Management:
1. Utilize MS Project for planning, finance, and milestone management.
2. Prepare financial models for capex requests.
3. Chair project meetings and summarize report-outs.
4. Collaborate with Site Directors and Managers on investment plans and site improvements.
Qualifications:
1. Relevant degree or equivalent.
2. NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
3. Understanding of CDM.
4. Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
5. Experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
6. Passion for driving change and continual improvements.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
1. Experience with lean principles/initiatives and/or six sigma qualification.
2. Proficiency in Excel, MS Project, Office 365, and SAP (training provided).
3. Awareness of COSHH, PUWER, TABRA, and Dynamic Risk Assessments.
4. Good understanding of chemical safety, storage, and segregation.
5. Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 is advantageous.
6. Strong communication, numerical, and relationship-building skills.
7. Ability to manage incidents and collaborate with EHS teams.
8. Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
9. Strong commitment to quality standards and procedures.
10. Project management experience desirable.
