Reception Assistant - Coroners Service
Fixed Term, Full Time
£23,344 per annum
Please note this vacancy is available as a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity for up to 24 months.
The Opportunity

The Reception Assistant will work within a team, operating as the initial point of contact for all visitors, internal and external customers and staff, providing advice and guidance to staff and visitors and carrying out administrative processes.
The role requires experience of working within a similar customer-oriented environment, familiarity with general office practices and procedures, and the ability to build good working relationships, both internal and external.
Accountabilities
* Responsible for maintaining a high standard of customer care, dealing with routine enquiries, managing court room bookings, post, answering the telephone, and greeting and booking in visitors, jury members, witnesses, and legal teams.
* Ensure that own knowledge of organisational change is up to date and accurate, sharing information with colleagues.
* Deliver duties in accordance with work schedules and plans, ensuring that adequate cover for the Reception area is maintained at all times.
* Ensure own knowledge of systems and processes are continuously updated to enable best use of technology.
* Participate in monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the Coroners Service Reception.
* Provide advice and guidance to staff and visitors on security requirements, expected behaviours relating to the court process, and identity document requirements.
* Responsible for being the first point of contact for visitors, bereaved families, witnesses, jurors, coroners, and legal teams.
* Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
The Experience You Will Bring
* Educated to RQF level 2 (GCSE) and a Level 2 Customer Service qualification, or equivalent by experience.
* Evidence of the ability to develop skills and knowledge within the role.
* Experience of delivering high-quality customer care in a similar customer-oriented environment, and familiarity with general office practices and procedures.
* Ability to develop effective working relationships across the Council and external organisations.
* Experience of working in a team.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences in varying mediums.
* Ability to diffuse challenging situations and deal with occasional confrontational behaviour.
* Ability to carry out a variety of administrative support whilst maintaining confidentiality.
* Knowledge of IT software packages, including the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
