Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day:
* Assess and treat a wide variety of clients with neurological injuries with varying needs, including those with chronic and/or mental health conditions
* Conduct Neurological, cognitive and musculosketal assessments for clients who have sustained a traumatic brain injury
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent client outcomes
* Collaborate with physician specialists (e.g., Physiatrists and Neurologists) to create collaborative treatment plans addressing functional and medical issues
* Network with internal and external stakeholders to promote new and existing programs
* Perform regular charting, reporting and communication in a timely manner
* Record workload measurement data
* Attend staff meetings and case conference meetings, as required
* Provide professional services to other CBI facilities or departments, as required
What you need to be successful:
* A minimum five years’ relevant experience
* Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
* A valid G class licence and reliable access to your own vehicle
* Strong clinical reasoning skills and assessment abilities in upper extremity, lower extremity, back and/or neck
* Knowledge and understanding of the rehabilitation process; ability to navigate complex files where physical, cognitive and mental health issues are impacting recovery
* Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development
* An ability to provide the highest quality of client care in a fast-paced, changing environment
* Strong critical thinking, decision-making and analytical skills
* Exceptional time management and organizational skills and an ability to work independently
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and enthusiasm for working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
* Empathy and an effective ability to build rapport with patients
* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
* Expertise in the management of upper extremity injuries and/or experience as a hand specialist are assets
