Job summary We are a 29 bedded ward with patients who require surgery for broken bones, and wounds, ranging from hip fractures and ankle fractures to cat bites/dog bites. We look after patients pre and post-operatively that require close monitoring, personal care, manual handling and pain management. We are a big and inclusive team with a focus on rehabilitating patients to support patient flow and safe discharges. Main duties of the job Main duties of the job require assisting patients with personal care due to the majority of our patients having reduced mobility and high levels of pain. Additionally, patients require assistance to reposition regularly to prevent pressure sores and maintain skin integrity. Other duties include, monitoring vital signs, monitoring blood glucose levels, escalating acutely unwell patients, caring for patients living with Dementia, recording ECGs, assisting patients with eating and drinking, documentation, communicating within the Multi Disciplinary team, and assisting patients with toileting and mobilising.
