Job Type: 6 month Fixed term contract
Location: This role could be based in any of our UK offices (Birmingham, Telford, Edinburgh or London) with time spent working in the office and at home.

We’re currently recruiting for a Planning and Forecasting Actuary to join the Group Planning, Forecasting & Analysis team. In this role the successful candidate will have responsibility for the review of Solvency II and cash generation results and development/improvement of processes to support our planning and forecasting. On a day-to-day basis this could involve reviewing and interpreting results and preparing commentary on projections and other forecasting information for use by senior management.

The role
It's a varied role where you will be able to put your actuarial knowledge, problem-solving skills and initiative to good use in helping to communicate the key drivers behind our results, and helping others to understand how our economic and operational environment drives our financial results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing the production process of financial plans including stress and scenario projections for the Phoenix Group
2. Review and interpret results from business planning projection models and understanding the key drivers behind results and use technical knowledge to provide insights to explain any variances.
3. Produce reports for delivery to customers including preparing commentary on projections and other forecasting information for senior management and committees including the Board.
4. Identify improvements to the control framework and processes within the team considering wider business implications.
What are we looking for?
5. Qualified Actuary with suitable post qualification experience.
6. Good written and verbal communication skills having the ability to explain complex technical issues in a concise manner
7. Proven ability to adapt in an ever-changing financial services environment
8. Good level of knowledge of Solvency II and Life products, processes and reporting is desirable.
9. Ability to work to tight timescales and to use your knowledge and instincts to make quick, sensible conclusions from large amounts of information will be a real benefit in this role.
10. Experience of managing teams is desirable.
