Full Job Description
Overview: In preparation for the 2025 autumn season, we are looking for a group of highly motivated individuals to work with our client on a 4-month temporary booking as RHTT Operators.
This position is great for people wanting to gain operational experience in the rail industry in a safety-critical environment.
Responsibilities:
During the autumn leaf-fall season every year, the national network deploys strategic Rail Head Treatment Trains (RHTTs) to maintain safe railhead conditions. As an RHTT operator, you will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of these units while out and about in the region covered. This is a great opportunity for people looking to get a foot in the door within the railway and start a rewarding career.
You will be provided with full training. You will be required to hold a valid in-date medical and hold a PTS certification.
The job pays £170 per shift, working 5 shifts per week on a rota basis either days, nights, or afternoons. This includes weekend work.
Qualifications:
PTS sentinel competency required.
Personal Attributes:
* Safety conscious: As ever, working on locos and associated RHTT units, safety is always the highest priority, so operators must be steadfast individuals complying with safety practices at all times.
* Comfortable with shift work: These trains run at all hours of the day, seven days a week, and so operators will work a varied shift pattern.
* Strong work ethic: While carrying out your duties, a strong work ethic is the essential difference between the good operators and the great.
* Ability to sustain concentration for long periods: Trains can run for long periods between stops, and so operators must ensure enduring concentration levels.
* Perseverance and flexibility: Any scenarios can change at a moment’s notice. The ideal candidates can demonstrate any time they have been flexible or persevered to reach an end goal.
Essential Criteria:
* UK full driver's licence (manual) clean.
* Available to start and be on primary sponsor for the training in July/August and work the full programme until mid-December 2025.
Full training is given prior to the programme starting, and PPE is provided. A work pool vehicle can also be provided for transport between connecting work sites.
Application is online via a portal and verification call. Payment is via umbrella.
