We are now seeking an experienced Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up our Legal Counsel function reporting directly to the Commercial Director. Role Overview:
As Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the legal integrity of our operations while contributing to the commercial success of our projects. This position involves collaborating closely with our teams and providing legal guidance throughout the contract lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up the Legal Counsel function within Lindner UK.
* Lead contract reviews and negotiations, addressing legacy issues and collaborating with external counsel.
* Ensure contract clarity and compliance through comprehensive reviews of negotiation processes.
* Provide legal support to commercial and operations teams during tenders and contract management.
* Identify training needs and develop compliance training for the commercial team.
* Enhance governance practices and review current legal processes.
* Audit key contracts for compliance and implement necessary corrective actions.
* Develop and implement legal processes, ensuring governance and risk policies are in place.
* Foster teamwork and innovation within the commercial team.
* Participate in meetings and provide insights on legal matters.
* Support commercial teams in managing client interactions and critical correspondence.
* Uphold company policies related to health, safety, and equality.
Person Specification:
* Qualified solicitor/barrister with a practicing certificate.
* Strong understanding of contract law and commercial practices, particularly in JCT and NEC contracts.
* Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
* Demonstrated ability to provide practical legal advice in a commercial context.
* Effective communication skills with the capability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
* Enthusiastic about fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement within the organisation.
* Member of “The Society of Construction Law” (desirable).
