What you’ll do as a Technical Apprentice:
As a Technical Apprentice, you will commit to the successful completion of all your academic modules and assignments in support of your Apprenticeship in Engineering Technical Support (Apprenticeship Standard Ref: ST0457).
Years 1 and 2:
During your first year, you will spend time at college completing a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the foundation qualification of your apprenticeship. Upon completion, you will return to Leonardo to start your rotational placements, keeping a log of all the work you complete which will be used towards your apprenticeship. During your second year, you will attend college on a day release basis to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the knowledge qualification of your apprenticeship, and continue with your rotational placements.
Years 3 and 4:
In your third year, you will continue to rotate around different departments, gaining further knowledge of the company and developing your engineering skills. Your third year will also see you through the workplace portfolio phase of your Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the competence qualification of your apprenticeship. For your final year, you will complete the End Point Assessment for your apprenticeship and focus your development in a final work placement that lasts for the remainder of the apprenticeship.
During your apprenticeship, you will:
* Grow your knowledge of an engineering business and the role of a technician by being part of an integrated Project Team.
* Develop practical skills in engineering and understanding key processes and technologies.
* Support early careers activities - our apprentices have the opportunity to work as STEM ambassadors in schools, colleges, and universities.
What we need from you:
Qualifications:
You must have (as a minimum) the following qualifications:
5 GCSE grades 4 - 9 or grades A*- C or equivalent - Mandatory: English, Maths, and Science plus 2 subjects.
The starting salary for this role is £17,850.
Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business, which includes having a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK.
