Job responsibilities The successful candidate will be based either in Taunton at Musgrove Park Hospital or Yeovil District Hospital. Clinical duties and minor surgery account for 7 sessions per week and a half day in a community dermatology hub along with support from GPwERs. Medical students from Bristol and Peninsular Medical Schools will attend clinics for 28 weeks per year. The teaching will be shared across the team and led by the consultant. For candidates with a research profile, who are keen to include research in their job plan, protected research time can be negotiated. As with all clinical research, on-going support in terms of time and university fees is dependent upon satisfactory progress. The successful candidate will participate in the monthly clinical governance meetings help at MPH for the whole dermatology team. Appraisal, Job Planning and Mandatory Training will take place annually, as for any other SFT consultant. Further details are available from the SFT revalidation web site. Medical staff at Somerset Foundation Trust have a mandatory 1.5 for core revalidation activity. There are no dedicated dermatology beds at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton or Yeovil District Hospital. Dermatology in-patients are usually cared for on medical wards, with oversight by a general physician. Dermatology in-patients are seen at least once daily by the dermatology team. All inpatients are assessed daily for possible discharge to hospital-at-home or dermatology day unit attendance for nurse-led care. The successful applicant and Clinical Lead will agree a prospective Job Plan that sets out their main duties and responsibilities, a schedule for carrying out their Programmed Activities, managerial responsibilities, accountability arrangements, objectives and supporting resources.
