We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic consultant to join a friendly and innovative team to deliver high-quality rheumatology care for our Somerset population. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead and develop services relevant to their interest and experience as the service continues to expand. This post is for 10 PAs but does provide options to work flexibly subject to discussion regarding roles and responsibilities and in keeping with the needs of the service. The successful candidate will need to be prepared to take on new challenges to expand the service and work collaboratively with other team members. The management team are supportive of developing and expanding the service, and regular meetings are in place to ensure collaboration of management and consultant colleagues. The successful candidate will support the ambitious but exciting plans to develop a countywide service for rheumatological care in Somerset.
This post can be based at Yeovil District Hospital or Musgrove Park Hospital with opportunities to develop the role in conjunction with the expanding multidisciplinary team across Somerset.
Main duties of the job
To provide, to a high standard, the full range of specialist diagnosis, treatment and care to patients requiring rheumatology services:
1. Outpatient work -- the successful candidate will provide outpatient clinics and support for the specialist nursing team.
2. Inpatient work - the successful candidate will support the other Rheumatology Consultants in seeing rheumatology ward referrals.
3. To work with the multidisciplinary team to support the development of in-house and county-wide rheumatology services.
4. To provide cover for colleagues in their absence.
5. To deal with emergencies as the occasion demands.

Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and hold a license to practice at time of applying.
* CCST (or within 6 months of award) in Rheumatology.
* MRCP.
