This role will suit a candidate with a number of year’s experience working in an engineering production environment who is now seeking to move into a full time quality based role or an existing quality inspector who is ready for their next move. The position is intended to be a development role for someone who is seeking to evolve into a full Quality Engineering position. Support and training will be provided to enable this development over time. Job Summary: Aligned to the Quality department your priority responsibilities will be for the day-to-day internal inspection of manufactured parts, outsourced parts, raw materials and final inspection pre-despatch (using conventional measuring techniques and manual CMM). You will support and coordinate all onsite calibration requirements for both inhouse calibration and external completion. You will support the Quality Manager in completion of relevant FAIR / Concession requirements, raising of Quality Issues on company ERP system and implementation of inspection best practices and written controls. Scope; From goods inwards inspection, production first-off’s, final inspection pre-despatch and calibration to relevant inspection specifications. Day to Day responsibilities include: Inspection of manufactured parts, first-offs, final inspection of assemblies, inspection of outsourced parts, inspection of raw materials to engineering drawing and PO requirements Uploading of quality certification to ERP system, supporting compiling of technical documentation packs prior to despatch. Raising quality identified issues on company ERP system. Review completed supplier generated FAI’s. Compile FAIRs and Concessions to provide evidence of conformity of processes and product. Develop an in-house program for completion of calibration for simple items of measuring equipment and coordinate and arrange for external / onsite completion of calibration for the whole site’s calibration requirements. Coordinate the development of inspection techniques and use of standard measuring equipment within all manufacturing departments. Completion of internal quality audits to ISO 9001:2015 (training will be provided). Coordinate/raise purchase requisitions for replacement / additional inspection equipment. Carry out investigations into damaged measuring equipment, arrange for tagging, quarantine, replacement and/or repair. Maintain company systems with relevant inspection information and keep all physical and digital files up to date. Support development of systems to improve efficiencies within inspection department. Supporting creation of work instructions and SOPs for consistent inspection techniques. Support internal root cause analysis, implementation of corrective actions and closeout of actions against ERP system. Key Skills: Experienced mechanical engineering background. Experienced working within ISO9001:2015 quality certified organisation Ability to read and interrogate engineering drawings, test and other specifications. Experienced in use of conventional inspection equipment – measuring in both imperial and metric. Desirables: Served a recognised Engineering apprenticeship. Experience of ISO14001:2015 Environmental management systems Internal auditor trained Experience in use of CMM inspection equipment Experienced in calibration techniques
