We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated caretaker who would like to provide a key role in maintaining our school sites. Under the instruction/guidance of the Office Manager, you will provide porterage, maintenance, waste management & security services on school sites & premises. Duties will include: Key holding, lock/unlock school buildings and areas, setting/un-setting of security systems, security of the site. Monitor fire safety equipment and carry out and assist in carrying out fire drills. Operate and respond to alarm systems where appropriate. Carry out and record statutory checks and help maintain Health and Safety records Carry out checks of heating plant and lighting systems. Liaise with contractors & undertake client role in connection with premises-related contracts. Monitor performance of contractors and carry out inductions prior to them gaining access to site. Provide emergency access to school site. Maintenance of property and grounds to a high standard. Undertake appropriate repairs e.g. minor redecorating, minor/simple repairs e.g. minor plumbing, changing lamps, unblocking drains, replacing finishing’s, ironmongery. Organise and carry out various maintenance duties to ensure that the general upkeep and maintenance of the premises is satisfactory, as per specific schedule for the site. Remove waste to central collection point (bin storage area). Monitor and arrange preventative planned maintenance and routine inspections of the buildings, fixtures, fittings, furniture, premises and grounds to assess for minor work or repairs requires to be carried out to maintain safe and satisfactory conditions. Assisting in administration of log books/on line record keeping system (basic computer skills would be an advantage). To undertake task as delegated from the Job Log System. Ensuring that the ‘jobs’ are completed in a timely manner and to a satisfactory standard. To Communicate with parents/carers and outside agencies where appropriate Monitor site stock and order supplies. Coordinate deliveries to the site and distribution within. Undertake emergency cleaning tasks during specified times such as graffiti removal & litter picking of entire site (external). Undertake on-call duties when required. To assist in safety audits of the premises and contribute to relevant risk assessment activity.
