JOB SUMMARY
Position: Community Outreach Specialist, GS-11
Division: Norfolk Field Office
Location: Norfolk, VA
Working Hours: Monday-Friday 8:15am-5:00pm (hours may vary)
Salary: GS 11: $75,000 - $97,000
Full Performance Level: GS-11
Number of Positions Available: 1
Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Key Requirements:
* Must be a current, permanent FBI employee
* Must be able to obtain an SCI clearance
* Some travel may be required
* Selectee will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 annually
* Selectee will be required to complete form FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
Physical Demands:
Work requires frequent travel to various sites within the territory and operation of an FBI vehicle. It involves significant periods of lifting and carrying heavy items (e.g., boxes of handouts or audiovisual equipment) with assistance.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a typical office environment and at various offsite locations. Inner-city areas and certain other locations at particular times may be unsafe, requiring the incumbent to exercise precautions.
Major Duties:
* Serves as the FBI's Community Outreach Program representative and speaker on topics of crime, drug, gang, violence prevention, intervention, and awareness.
* Establishes contacts and interacts effectively with external agencies, government officials, the community, and internal FBI contacts.
* Conducts research projects to assess program effectiveness and meet goals.
* Coordinates and implements community outreach programs like the FBI Citizens Academy, Junior Special Agent Program, and others.
* Organizes educational and informational programs to promote mentoring and prevention activities.
* Communicates effectively orally and in writing, tailoring messages to the audience's experience level.
Qualifications and Evaluations:
Applicants must demonstrate relevant experience in their resume. Applications will be evaluated based on the FBI's Candidate Rating Procedures, considering qualifications and responses to assessment questions. High self-assessment without supporting evidence may affect competitiveness.
All applicants will be rated on competencies such as Collaboration, Communication, Flexibility/Adaptability, Initiative, Interpersonal Ability, and Organizing and Planning.
Specialized Experience (SE):
GS 11 applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at GS-9 level, including coordinating programs, representing organizations, liaising with external agencies, and analyzing program effectiveness.
Education:
Degrees must be from an accredited institution. Education can substitute for experience if it meets specific criteria, including higher-level graduate education or a doctoral degree. Foreign education must be comparable to U.S. standards.
