Salary: £100K Basic + additional benefits
Summary: Our client is a leading 3PL, and they are now looking to appoint a Commercial Director. You will add value to our growth activities by identifying new commercial opportunities and managing marketing efforts. You will keep abreast of trends and market conditions to provide strategic advice to upper management.
The goal is to promote and expand the company's commercial activity that will generate revenues and lead to sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth.
2. Acquire new customers via a strategic pipeline, leading a team to deliver against agreed growth targets.
3. Find and nurture new business relationships with large retailers and food manufacturers to support the attainment of internal growth targets.
4. Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, new business development etc.).
5. Take responsibility for key customer relationships to deliver proactive management, secure contract renewals, and meet financial expectations.
6. Lead and develop teams (sales, account management) to exceed agreed key performance indicators.
7. Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for the senior management team.
8. Own the tender response process for all customer-related commercial opportunities.
9. Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders.
10. Assist in setting financial targets, budget development, and results monitoring.
Key Skills/Experience:
1. Proven experience as Commercial Director or other relevant role - this is a senior position reporting to the MD.
2. Proven experience in delivering growth in sales, managing relationships with key clients, and leading a team to deliver against agreed targets.
3. Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes.
4. Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset.
5. Knowledge, understanding, and practical application of cost models to deliver a consistent approach and ensure agreed profitability targets are achieved.
6. Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
7. Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
8. National role with UK-wide travel to sites.
