Napier Turbocharger, a Wabtec Company, has an exciting opportunity for a Development Engineer to join a well-established business designing, manufacturing, and testing industrial turbochargers supplied into the Power Generation, Marine, and Rail Traction industries.
Role: Development Engineer
Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30am to 15:45pm and Friday 07:30am to 15:15pm
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
As a Development Engineer the role will involve the design, installation, and commissioning of test rigs. You will work in close liaison with colleagues responsible for design, analysis, and applications. There will be opportunities to lead engineering projects and interact with customers to meet strict deadlines for the introduction of new turbocharger products or upgrades.
Management, implementation, and operation of test programs including the data acquisition post-processing of results.
Design and commissioning of test rigs.
The management of multiple projects simultaneously.
HNC/HND or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
Understanding turbocharger technology, performance metrics, and testing methodologies is desirable.
A good understanding of data acquisition and control systems with excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to use CAD software (e.g., Nx, AutoCAD, Solidworks)
Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and reporting.
