Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Influence:
Drive key financial outcomes for orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow.
Provide strategic guidance on business, contractual, and risk mitigation strategies to support both new and ongoing programs.
Contract and Risk Management:
Analyze emerging laws, regulations, and contract trends to assess their impact on business unit goals.
Develop and review contracts to ensure alignment with customer and company expectations, negotiating terms that protect company interests.
Apply an understanding of UK law, the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and its supplements (DFARS), and other regulations such as MoD DEFCONS.
Governance and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to the governance framework set by Contracts, Sales & Commercial.
Evaluate complex contract requirements and special provisions for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
Contract Administration:
Oversee the contractual review process for solicitations, proposal development, and contract change controls.
Manage overall contract administration, ensuring milestones are met, invoicing aligns with contractual payment terms, and customer satisfaction is monitored.
Secure final customer payments during program closure, ensuring all contractual obligations are fulfilled.
Collaboration and Negotiation:
Negotiate contract terms with strategic sales partners and manage customer bids and proposals.
Collaborate with Integrated Product Leads to update on performance metrics, provide commercial updates, and align strategic commercial goals.
Ensure compliance with export/import regulations, coordinating with the Compliance Officer on export paperwork and correct product/service categorization.
What You'll Bring
Industry Expertise:
P roven experience within the Space and Defence industry, with a solid grasp of single source contract regulations and CAAS auditing requirements.
Proposal and Contract Skills:
Demonstrated ability in proposal writing, ensuring submissions are accurate and compliant.
Expertise in developing and negotiating contracts that align with both customer and company requirements.
Leadership and Mentorship:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide the commercial team, driving business efficiencies and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Experience working with diverse company functions, including supply chain, finance, and trade compliance, along with proven skills in managing client-facing negotiations.
