Advert Active Communities Co-ordinator (Fixed Term) Various Locations in Dumfries Galloway £37,596 - £40,356 Could you make a difference the health and wellbeing of some of our older people in Dumfries & Galloway? As an Active Communities Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of our Active Communities physical activity programme. You will line manage the new Physical Activities Coaches who will be delivering gentle activity classes and short strolls to enhance the lives, improve the health and wellbeing, and independence of our local people. You will also link these roles with existing Active Communities delivery and the wider development of the Active Lives Pathway programme. The successful candidate will be required to undertake various training in line with newly recruited staff via a Shibashi Level 1 qualification (25 & 26 January 2025), strength and balance group exercises, walk leader training and many more training opportunities appropriate to the post. You should have experience managing staff and volunteers, excellent communication skills, be able to work with a wide variety of people and confidently lead 1:1/group activity/sessions (if required). The successful candidate should have knowledge and experience of communications and social media profiling, including public facing roles to promote the wider DGDoingMore website and Active Communities social media platform. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
