This role is key in supporting our clients’ documentation requirements and the Quality Management Systems at Liberty Pipes (Hartlepool) Ltd. The role exists primarily to lead all quality documentation activities (preparation, generation, submittal and approval) in support of commercial orders, and secondly to provide support to the Quality Assurance function in terms of auditing support.
Responsibilities include:
1. Quality Documentation: Manage and direct the day-to-day activities of the Quality Documentation Department including line management of the Documentation Co-ordinators. Ensure sub supplier documentation (i.e., MPS, ITP, WPS, final data book etc) is available when required and that they comply with agreed customer and technical requirements, by reviewing and reacting to comments and responses prior to re submittal to client for approval. Evaluate the documentation requirements of customer specifications at enquiry, bid and contract stages to advise of any requirements which are beyond the capabilities of the mill, or which may pose difficulties if accepted. Manage and direct the preparation, review and issue of quality documentation (e.g. MPS, ITP, QP, MPQ, PQR, WRPQ’s SDRL’s and Final Data Books etc) in accordance with vendor documentation requirements and timescales for submittal to the customer for approval. Manage, approve, and issue the preparation of internal test cutting diagrams and pipe stencilling instructions to ensure that pipes are tested and certified against customer specification requirements. Review and endorse plate certificates, welding consumables and paint certificates for releases for use. Manage and maintain Document Control Database, reviewing, approving, issuing, and archiving documentation. Including ownership and review of Quality Documentation procedures Prepare and attain third party approval of welder qualifications. Upon completion of project, ensure recording and uploading of quality documentation on to project issues for storage and access of all project documents, including the update of OBI. Manage onsite archive storeroom, allocating shelves for storage and disposing of out-of-date records.

3. Provide support to the Section Manager – QA & Documentation by conducting audits as dictated by the internal audit schedule and/or any ad hoc process audit needs as directed by the Quality Manager or Section Manager – QA & Documentation.
Requirements:
Experience within a similar field is preferred, as is a comprehensive working knowledge of the operations, inspection, non-destructive testing, typical specifications and mechanical testing associated with line pipe manufacture, but equivalent experience in heavy manufacturing would also be accepted.
The job holder shall also have awareness of typical quality assurance documentation from a manufacturing environment (e.g., Manufacturing Procedure Specification [MPS], Inspection & Test Plan [ITP] etc) and be a qualified auditor with c3 years minimum industrial experience. Auditing qualifications should focus on ISO but auditor qualifications for ISO and/or ISO would also be considered valuable.
The successful candidate will possess a logical approach to their work with attention to detail and exemplary accuracy. Good written and oral communication skills are essential alongside being comfortable working across all Microsoft Office packages
