Home based, with regular Broker meetings & team get togethers, the ideal candidate will be based near ish to London and have a minimum of 2years + Commercial Underwriting experience, which should ideally include Contractor/Tradesman Underwriting experience.
The role is responsible for Underwriting a broad range of UK Commercial risks, including Commercial Combined, Contractors, Tradesman, Property Owners and Office, although you not prior experience in all mentioned classes.
The role:
* The trading, negotiating and underwriting of new business and/or renewal of existing business in accordance with the company’s strategy.
* Achieving budget income, Loss Ratio, Rate & Retention Targets whilst delivering excellent Customer Service and Underwriting standards via open market trading and the online trading platform.
* To assist with the prioritization and allocation of new business quotations, midterm adjustments, renewals claims experience, pre-quote work and declinature of business falling outside the companies underwriting strategy.
* Strive for maximum efficiency, development & profitability and contribute to creating a culture of excellence.
* Identify and seek out additional key risk information required to adequately underwrite and price risks
* Working with Broker Development Managers on distribution strategy.
* Regularly plan, discuss and agree pipeline activity with the broker to ensure targets are reached
* Accountability and Ownership for large case reviews including both New and Existing Business
* Processing Policy Amendments
* Resolution of accounts and claims queries
* Carry out peer reviews in line with company audit procedures
* Collaboration with the technical team where required for existing product improvements and new product development to improve loss ratio results.
* Support the cascade and delivery of strategy changes and work in conjunction with the Operation and Technical teams to ensure these are being met.
* To assist underwriting in managing performance of schemes generated.
Role requirements:
* Minimum 2-3 years+ previous UK Commercial underwriting experience
* Strong relationship/negotiation & numerical skills with good attention to detail and effective written and spoken communication skills.
* Ideally CII qualified. A working knowledge of market wordings and products.
