About us
The Cohesion Officer will work in the resilience and cohesion team within Salford's community safety department which is accountable to Salford's Community Safety Partnershp (CSP).
The overarching aim of the Community Safety Partnership is to build safer, stronger, more resilient communities in Salford and reduce the fear of crime by:
* Driving down crime Reducing serious violent crime
* Tackling anti-social behaviour
* Building resilient communities
* Protecting vulnerable people
* Reducing offending
About the Role
The Cohesion Officer will work within Salford's Community Safety Department to help develop and deliver Salford's cohesion priorities across the city and to support the priorities and decision making of Salford's Community Safety Partnership and Salford City Council.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing the delivery and monitoring of high quality project plans and projects reducing the risk of people being drawn into terrorism and promoting community cohesion for those who live, work and are educated in Salford.
* Play a key role in building and maintaining strong links with communities of interest to improve community cohesion and foster positive relations in support of the council’s public sector equality duty.
* Play a key role in maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of partners across the city including the Police, Fire Service and other key stakeholders represented on community safety partnership.
* Play a key role in protecting and maintaining public safety
* To be able to articulate clearly the need for community safety projects and the impact of these on communities across Salford.
About you
We are looking for a person with:
* Experience in developing and delivering effective local responses to tackling cohesion issues within communities.
* An ability to build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with local communities, key public and third sector partners
* A high level of written and verbal communication skills, engendering commitment across groups from all levels of organisations
* To carry out all duties with full regard to Salford City Council’s Equality and Diversity and Health & Safety policies
