Fresh Start provides support to people moving on from or those at risk of homelessness. Fresh Start has been active in Edinburgh for over 25 years with a mission to help people make a home for themselves. Volunteering is at the centre of Fresh Start’s ethos, and we are looking to diversify our team of volunteers to ensure all ages, backgrounds and demographics are represented and given opportunities at Fresh Start.
Fresh Start offers a range of services to people either at the transition from homelessness or those who are at risk of homelessness. We provide people with the provision of household starter packs, white goods, painting and decorating services. Via our community hub, we offer a wide range of services including cooking, community pantry and shop, growing spaces, provision of advice, information and support.
We are looking for a team player who would like to work in our busy warehouse, someone who is keen to learn, grow and develop themselves. Working alongside the rest of the starter pack team and our volunteers, the Warehouse and Services Assistant is a key role within the warehouse working alongside our volunteers to assemble and deliver starter packs, including the safe testing of electrical items (training will be provided) within the starter packs.
Fresh Start is a small charity and a flexible approach and the ability to multi-task is essential. A good team player who can also work on their own initiative and be proactive is required for this role.

About the role
As Marketing Executive, you will use your expertise to coordinate and deliver marketing projects to increase brand awareness and drive engagement with key Shelter Scotland audiences. You’ll be integral to ensuring we have a critical mass of people providing their voice in support of our work, encouraging new and existing supporters to act to address the housing emergency in their communities.
You will help to ensure Shelter Scotland can deliver on its ambitious supporter strategy – to use mass-mobilisation to achieve supporter growth and depth to win campaigns and achieve long-term change. By creating integrated marketing campaigns across paid, earned, and owned channels – including email marketing – you will drive engagement with key Shelter Scotland campaigns and activities.
About you
We’re looking for someone with a passion for digital and email marketing. Shelter Scotland needs someone with a passion for the cause and can increase our reach to support our campaigns addressing the housing emergency.

Part of our Communications and Engagement team at Shelter Scotland, the Marketing and Engagement team includes a Supporter Mobilisation Manager, Senior Marketing and Brand Executive, Supporter Engagement Executive and Marketing Executive. The team works to deliver on Shelter Scotland’s ambitious strategy by leading targeted marketing activities to drive acquisition and engagement both locally and nationally.
Hiring for 2 roles. 1 full-time at 37.5 hours per week, and 1 part-time (0.5 FTE) at 18.75 hours per week.

In our Community Team, we identify, investigate and intervene in housing and homelessness issues. We are engaged in our local communities to understand the housing issues people are facing, and we apply our expertise to work toward solutions. Lived experience of the housing emergency is at the heart of everything we do.
About you
Already with some relevant experience, you’re used to working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, have great time management skills and enjoy collaborating with people from other teams and organisations. The ability to listen to, engage and empower individuals and communities will be key. So will your willingness to challenge practice and hold people to account – including influencing decision makers. Adept at presenting information and arguments in clear and compelling ways, you have a real enthusiasm for delivering workshops and presentations too. What’s more, you’re a creative problem solver with an innate ability to gather evidence and identify insights, issues and trends and are proficient using Word, Excel, email, the internet and in-house CRM systems.

Our three Communities Teams are responsible for identifying, investigating and intervening in housing and homelessness practice issues. We engage with our local communities to understand the issues people are facing and apply expert housing knowledge, insight and analysis to identify solutions to them. As well as providing advice and advocacy for individuals, we also use our insight, relationships and influence to drive systemic change, always ensuring that lived experience is at the heart of everything we do.
Our North Team covers regions from Fife northwards and operates out of our two regional offices in Dundee and Aberdeen with the team spread across these locations.

About Linburn Walled Garden
The Linburn Walled Garden sits in the grounds of Sight Scotland Veterans in Wilkieston, West Lothian. At the garden, we focus on growing food, skills, and community. This half acre garden offers a place where veterans and their families can connect, learn new skills, and benefit from activities which promote positive relationships.
About the role
The Community Gardener will support the coordination and facilitation of family events and workshops hosted in the walled garden for veterans, their families and Scotland’s Veterans’ Wellbeing Alliance partners. The post-holder will also support the planning and maintenance of the walled garden. The main responsibilities for the role include:
* Support the year-round maintenance of the walled garden.
* Provide informal support to veterans and their families who visit the walled garden.
* Co-facilitate groups, workshops and events, including family open days.
* Support volunteers to carry out various gardening activities.
The role will work primarily during the day on weekdays, although some weekend work will be required.
The post is currently funded until September 2026 with hope to extend beyond this date.
About You
You’ll be an experienced gardener with an interest in supporting others to enjoy the benefits of gardening and the outdoors. You should also have:
* Great relationship building skills.
* Experience in maintaining a garden throughout the seasons.
* Experience co-facilitating groups, workshops and events.
* Experience supporting people who may have experienced trauma.
