Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting in January and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent contract based on performance. Role Overview This position is an excellent opportunity for a psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in education, particularly with students who require additional support. Working within the school’s support and intervention team, you will play a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment and helping students overcome barriers to achievement. Key Responsibilities One-to-One Support : Work closely with students who require additional assistance, helping them to engage with their learning and manage their emotional well-being. Small Group Interventions : Lead or support group sessions focusing on social skills, emotional resilience, or academic catch-up. Classroom Assistance : Provide in-class support to the teacher, ensuring students remain focused and engaged in their learning. Pastoral Support : Build trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and offering a listening ear for their concerns. Support for Students with SEN : Work with students who have special educational needs, including those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Collaboration with Staff : Assist teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams in developing and implementing individualised support plans. Progress Monitoring : Track student progress, identifying areas for further support and providing feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers. The Ideal Candidate Psychology Background : A degree in psychology or a related field, with an interest in educational psychology, child development, or SEN. Experience with Young People : Previous experience supporting children or young adults in an educational, care, or mentoring setting is highly desirable. Empathy and Patience : A calm, compassionate approach to supporting students with additional needs. Strong Communication Skills : The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Adaptability and Initiative : Comfortable working in dynamic environments and tailoring support to meet individual needs.
