We are seeking talented commercial management professionals with rail sector experience to join us in either York, Leeds, or Manchester. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey, they are: Safety first - Going home safe and well Client focus - Deliver on our promise Integrity - Always do the right thing Create opportunity - For our people to excel As a commercial manager you will be responsible for the management of commercial aspects of the business area including supporting pre-contract and operations, managing commercial risk and opportunity, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and that all commercial reporting procedures are adhered to. Supporting the delivery of projects providing pre award, procurement and post award contract administration support, monitoring compliance with contract obligations and driving value from the supply chain. Provision of a "cradle to grave" commercial function for all work packages making up the commission. You’ll be responsible for: Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports. Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project. Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan. Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed. Being a key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages. Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract. Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients. Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes. You’ll need to have: Proven experience working in the rail sector Understanding of value management and programme development and monitoring, ensuring delivery against key milestone targets. Negotiating skills with the ability to secure the required outcomes when dealing with people who are process led and not contracted into the project Excellent interpersonal skills in creating and maintaining relationships, able to converse to clients and peers to director level. You’ll also have: Degree in quantity surveying is preferred (or other commercially related discipline). Professional memberships are an advantage but not essential.
