Help us create a better future, quicker
At SP Energy Networks, our focus is on harnessing technology and innovation to create the networks of the future. Our team is building a dynamic network to meet the changing demands for electricity and increasingly, renewable electricity – safely, securely, and sustainably in the communities we serve. We know people are central to building a better future, quicker, and we are seeking new talent to join our team in the Merseyside District.
What you’ll be doing
This is a non-operational role. You will be responsible for overseeing & delivering district outputs in line with financial, regulatory, and business plan objectives, with a specific focus on maintaining network performance and resilience through proactive and reactive asset interventions. The role centres on the delivery and coordination of maintenance programmes, defect rectification, and non-fault planned works, ensuring network integrity, safety, and reliability are upheld.
Responsibilities:
1. Liaise with internal teams, customers, and external service partners to coordinate and facilitate the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance and planned works.
2. Lead a small team ensuring their optimal performance, development and foster a positive working environment.
3. Drive optimal operational and commercial performance from external delivery partners, ensuring alignment with contractual and quality standards.
4. Compose and distribute accurate status reports for programmes of work, including progress, risks, productivity, and next steps.
5. Coordinate multiple maintenance and intervention teams across various sites, ensuring effective scheduling, resource allocation and priority management.
6. Lead by example in promoting a zero-accident culture and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
7. Contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and resilient network by proactively managing defects and prioritising risk-based interventions, also considering your contribution to minimising customer interruptions.
8. Make efficient and informed decisions to control network risk, ensuring delivery of outputs within agreed timescales and budgets.
9. Capture, track, and embed improvements in delivery performance, engaging with key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
10. Support strategic system improvements through proactive identification of asset condition issues, trends, and coordination of programmes to mitigate future risk.
What you’ll bring
1. Relevant technical, operational, or planning experience, ideally in a maintenance, project delivery, risk or asset management environment.
2. Strong communication and coordination skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and engaging confidently with a range of stakeholders.
3. A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the motivation to lead and drive improvements across the team.
4. Awareness of safety rules and procedures, or an appreciation of safety’s importance in an operational environment.
5. A good understanding of the distribution network and its operation (preferred, but not essential).
6. Confidence in presenting and explaining technical and project information clearly and concisely.
7. A commitment to delivering outputs without compromising on safety, quality, or customer satisfaction.
8. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
