The Domestic Team at LUFT is looking for a passionate, highly motivated Assistant Domestic Manager to join our busy Domestic Services Team at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
As Assistant Domestic Manager at LUFT, you will be a key member of the Domestic management team. The post holder is required to manage and deploy resources effectively, ensuring that performance standards are achieved through leadership and effective monitoring systems. You will provide specialist knowledge and advice to service users regarding The National Standards of Cleaning 2021, COSHH, and Infection Prevention & Control procedures. Effective IT, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary. Knowledge and experience of supervising a cleaning service is essential. You must be able to work under pressure and as part of a team while using your own initiative. Additionally, the post holder will support and deputise for the Domestic Service Manager as requested.
The post holder has responsibility for ensuring cleaning is undertaken 24 hours per day. Flexibility is required as the Domestic Team offers a 24-hour service to a busy Hospital Trust. This will mean occasional late finishes, weekends, and bank holiday working. The post is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and you must be able to work the following shift times: 08:00 - 16:00 / 10:00 - 18:00 / 12:00 - 20:00.
Main duties of the job
Liverpool University Hospitals are seeking to recruit an Assistant Domestic Manager for their Broadgreen Hospital site. As the Assistant Domestic Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Domestic Service to ensure that cleaning is delivered to the National Standards of Cleaning 2021 and The Trust required standards.
You will manage a supervisory team and have daily contact with key stakeholders such as infection prevention & control, Matrons, and ward managers. Cleaning management experience is essential for this role, and experience within a healthcare environment would be beneficial.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To allocate tasks and responsibilities to the domestic supervisory team and take necessary steps to ensure the specified service is provided.
2. To liaise daily with Ward Managers and be proactive in resolving difficulties to build and maintain good working relationships.
3. Attend meetings as requested with Control of Infection, Matrons, and Site management to assist in effective communications with both managers and service users.
4. Carry out regular Supervisor 1-1 meetings to assist in effective two-way communication and to communicate the Trust’s aims and objectives to Supervisors to then cascade to Domestic staff.
5. Control staffing worked hours, organizing workloads fairly and ensuring that labor hours are kept within the master rota.
6. Ensure Health and Safety compliance including conducting investigations into any accidents and developing and documenting Risk Assessments.
7. To ensure that all machinery is safely maintained via the completion of an annual portable appliance test.
8. Development of local work schedules highlighting and monitoring general working practices and providing comprehensive and easily understood written instructions.
9. To assist the Domestic services manager with the day-to-day management of external contracts.
10. To be flexible in their working hours to carry out duties to sustain operational demands.
11. To ensure that all staff mandatory training is completed as per the required compliance.
12. To ensure that all areas are appropriately staffed in accordance with the master rota to ensure the required level of service is delivered.
13. To support the supervisors in daily operational duties and interaction with domestic staff.
14. Any other reasonable request as may be required.
