JustOT are recruiting for an Occupational Therapist at band 5 level specialising in Paediatric for a locum vacancy in Leicester.
The pay for this position is £15-£17 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.
Successful candidates must hold a degree in occupational therapy and be HCPC registered.
Position Summary:
The Paediatric Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing individualised therapy programmes to help children develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and learning. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care and achieve optimal outcomes for children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's physical, emotional, sensory, and environmental needs.
2. Develop and implement personalised treatment plans based on assessments and goals, tailored to the developmental needs of children.
3. Provide therapeutic interventions to improve children's ability to perform daily activities, including self-care, play, and school tasks.
4. Educate and support families and caregivers about treatment plans, strategies, and the importance of occupational therapy.
5. Monitor and document children's progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, educators, and family members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
7. Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with organisational and regulatory standards.
8. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and continuing professional development activities.
9. Advocate for the rights of children and support their autonomy in decision-making.
10. Stay current with advancements in paediatric occupational therapy and integrate new techniques into practice.
Qualifications:
1. BSc or MSc degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised programme.
2. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
3. Membership with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) is preferred.
4. Proven experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist in a clinical or educational setting.
5. Strong knowledge of paediatric therapeutic techniques, developmental milestones, and evidence-based practices.
6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
8. Compassionate, child-centred approach to care.
9. Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working with specific paediatric populations (e.g., children with autism, developmental delays, sensory processing disorders).
2. Advanced certifications or specialisations in areas such as sensory integration, neurodevelopmental therapy, or feeding therapy.
3. Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to perform physical activities required for the role, including lifting, positioning, and assisting children.
2. Capacity to remain standing or sitting for extended periods.
