SENIOR TELECOMS ENGINEER This position is Contingent Upon Contract Award Purpose: Valkyrie Enterprises is actively seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer/RCDD who will be responsible for all aspects related to the design and oversight of Inside Plant/Outside Plant projects for DoD customers. Job Description: Job Description: Conduct site surveys, collect requirements and develop detailed engineering design packages for ISP and OSP installations. Analyze technical requirements to support projected mission, technology, infrastructure changes, and recommend capabilities for new and existing facilities. Develop comprehensive technical solutions and implementation plans based on customer requirements for telecommunications (ISP/OSP) upgrades and installations. Collaboration with internal & external customers, lead project specific technical delivery & oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects with a focus on Data Center and Telecommunications Infrastructure. Provide engineering assistance and prepare project packages for installation teams to include instructions, sketches, shop drawings and equipment/material lists. Write Methods of Procedure (MOPs) as well as test and acceptance plans using industry standards, best practices and customer requirements. The ability to design site cable tray systems, cable paths and conveyances. Detailed understanding developing estimates for project schedules and budget. Understand and adhere to DoD, customer and company policies and practices. Provide cable plant infrastructure testing, installation, and design/consulting support for DoD customers. Directly interface with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and other company groups. Ability to brief senior DoD personnel on plans and/or status of projects. Ability to perform OTDRs, Optical Powers Meters and other optical test equipment. Updates network drawings using MS Visio, AutoCAD and other software-based applications. Ability to perform a wide spectrum of assignments requiring alternative analysis, innovation and judgment based on standards. Assumes responsibility for contributing to the success of major or multiple projects with minimal supervision. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering from an accredited university. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 6 years of structured cabling (ISP/OSP) engineering design experience. 4 years of large-scale facility networking infrastructure projects within datacenters or other comparable experience. Working knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including BICSI Standards, TDMM, RUS Standards, ANSI/IEEE/IEC, NFPA, NEC, and building codes. Must have the technical knowledge to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, understands Internet Protocol (IP) routing and architecture design and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks. Must have valid U.S. Driver's License. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Desired Qualifications: Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certified Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD). Additional BICSI certifications such as DCDC, OSP, RTPM, Installer and Technician. A working knowledge of DoD and USAF Directives, TIA/EIA standards and BICSI guidelines. Familiarity with DoD organizations, protocols, procedures, and processes as well as a experience addressing issues/concerns using the chain-of-command.
