Job Responsibilities/Tasks:
1. Build and install frameworks, partitions, staircases, and other wooden structures.
2. Install doors, windows, flooring, cabinetry, and other fixtures.
3. Construct and install scaffolding, formwork, and other temporary structures as needed.
4. Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and instructions to complete projects.
5. Accurately measure and mark materials for cutting, shaping, and assembly.
6. Ensure that structures comply with local building codes and regulations.
7. Measure, cut, and shape wood, plywood, and other materials using hand and power tools.
8. Assemble materials to form structures such as walls, roofs, and frameworks.
9. Create custom carpentry pieces like furniture, shelves, and cabinets as needed.
10. Repair and replace damaged wooden structures such as window frames, doors, and cabinets.
11. Perform general maintenance tasks to ensure wooden elements of buildings are in good condition.
12. Sand, stain, paint, and finish wooden surfaces to meet project requirements.
13. Apply decorative finishes, moldings, trims, and panels to enhance aesthetics.
14. Ensure high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail in all work.
15. Operate hand tools (e.g., hammers, chisels) and power tools (e.g., saws, drills) safely and effectively.
16. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
17. Use precision tools such as levels, plumb bobs, and framing squares to ensure accuracy.
18. Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
19. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and masks.
20. Ensure worksite cleanliness and organization to prevent accidents.
21. Work closely with other tradespeople, such as electricians, plumbers, and masons, to complete projects.
22. Report progress, challenges, and changes to the Site Supervisor or Project Manager.
23. Communicate with clients, architects, or designers when necessary to discuss project details.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Completion of a formal apprenticeship in carpentry or a related field preferred.
2. Proven experience as a carpenter or in a related role.
3. Familiarity with all aspects of carpentry, including framing, finishing, and joinery.
4. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
5. Proficient in using both hand and power tools.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, and safety regulations.
8. Ability to lift and carry heavy materials.
9. Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
10. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
11. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
