The Role
As our Lead Gas Engineer, you will be responsible for providing assistance to the Gas Supervisor and any other assistance required for the day-to-day supervision of the delivery of gas service, repair, and maintenance contracts to an agreed programme, budget, and quality within the company's operational targets.
Responsibilities:
* To carry out inspections, diagnose faults, fit parts, and carry out repairs relating to all aspects of heating and hot water systems.
* Heat loss calculations.
* Carry out QC's of completed servicing and repair works.
* Undertake gas servicing.
* Testing of smoke and CO alarms.
* To complete job sheets/PDA for every task, daily log sheets, and weekly time sheets.
* To comply with safe working practices ensuring the safety of your colleagues and the public is always maintained.
* Liaise with colleagues as required to ensure a high-quality service is delivered and a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved.
* Responsible for the delivery of planned commitments to the client, ensuring agreed KPI's and service levels are being met.
* To supervise and train any apprentices that might be placed with you from time to time in line with Aston Group's policies and procedures.
* To maintain a high standard of customer service for all internal and external activities.
* To comply with the company's Health & Safety Policy at all times and follow all related safe systems of work.
* Undertake other duties of a similar nature as required by management.
* Responsible for care and maintenance of the vehicle; washes vehicle and cleans interior; takes vehicle to garage for maintenance and repair.
* To report any vehicle malfunctions to management as soon as possible.
* Work towards Aston Group's target of reducing carbon emissions by following guidance provided to all employees on energy efficiency.
* Work within the Health and Safety Act of 1974 at all times by following guidance provided to employees at all times.
* Assist with all reasonable management instructions.
* Assist the supervisor in their day-to-day tasks.
* Provide technical advice and support for the team.
* Cover the supervisor role when required.
* Complete CP12 certificate checks when required.
* Liaise with the client, providing information and support with jobs.
* Ordering parts and van replenishment when required.
Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 08:00 am to 17:00 pm, and flexibility with working hours is essential as overtime will be required from time to time.
The Candidate
To be considered for our Lead Gas Engineer role, you will have the following skills and experience:
Qualifications
* ACS / Gas Safe qualified and the ability to demonstrate relevant experience.
* CCN1, CPA1, CKR1, HTR1, CENWAT.
* Energy Efficiency.
* Unvented Hot Water.
* HIU.
* Heat Pumps (desirable not essential).
* Gas fires.
* Cylinders.
* HRU.
Experience
* Minimum of 5 years gas servicing and breakdown experience.
* Experience as a suitably qualified heating/gas service engineer working in communal and/or domestic premises.
* Use and ability to train in the use of PDA devices.
* Use and ability to train in the use of a computer.
Skills/Knowledge
* The ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management and organisation of own workload.
* Intermediate level user of Microsoft Office.
* The ability to learn new software packages.
* To be able to work as part of a team.
* It is a requirement that a valid full clean driving licence is maintained.
