An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated and ambitious professional to take on the role of Deputy Operations Services Director for our Infection Sciences services across our network. This is a high profile, challenging and rewarding leadership role within the Synnovis with an emphasis on transformation, innovation, achieving operational and financial performance, and improving staff wellbeing. This role offers significant exposure to senior leadership across the organisation including within our partner organisations.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who can demonstrate initiative and a commitment to improving and delivering a high-quality service through experience of operational delivery and collaborative leadership and solution focused thinking. Reporting to the Operations Services Director you will provide strategic and operational leadership, for a service that is of significant clinical importance to our Stakeholders, our patients.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Operations Service Director is responsible for providing leadership of staff and services across London 4 network, including ensuring that all staff and services in the teams deliver agreed standards of excellence, meeting agreed key performance indicators, Quality and Health and Safety objectives. They will have responsibility for the overall effective and efficient management of all Infection Sciences services including Mycology, Bacteriology, Molecular services and Serology. To be an active member of the Infection sciences divisional senior team which includes managers, Clinicians and Scientists, contributing to the strategic direction and decision making on operational matters.
As a senior member of the management team you will be included in the Gold commander rota that covers the out of hours emergency support for analytical services in the event of significant service disruption.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
At Synnovis, we are currently shaping the future of pathology services by creating a world-leading Hub and Spoke pathology network with our NHS partners. A large part of this modernisation will involve moving 70% of our services to a purpose built, state of the art Hub laboratory in the heart of London. The job you are applying for will be based at our Hub laboratory in Blackfriars, Southwark, SE1, however some work will remain in the refurbished essential services laboratories (ESLs) across our hospital network which includes The Royal Brompton and Harefield Trust, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, King’s College Hospital at Denmark Hill and King’s College Hospital at The Princess Royal Hospital in Orpington, which will focusing on the rapid turnover of urgent tests. Main Duties and Responsibilities of the role:
Managing the operational budget in conjunction with the Operations Services Director (OSD), including deciding allocation of funds, whilst ensuring adherence to operational governance and adherence to financial reporting requirements and processes.
* Taking ownership and accountability for Pathology services P&L, focussing upon optimising operational costs and major non-pay cost lines, controlling expenditure ensuring Synnovis services are operating in a financially viable way.
* Clear leadership of the operational leadership teams, providing guidance and support to leaders that helps them create a positive and engaging workplace for teams.
* Ensuring people have access to training and development to build strong career trajectories across all disciplines in your business area, and performance is managed appropriately building resilience to unexpected challenges.
* In conjunction with OSD, ensuring the divisional organisation is right sized to meet business needs and right capacity to ensure effective and efficient delivery of current and future services, providing expertise to operational leaders to overcome service challenges.
* Managing stakeholders, internally and externally, to maintain a professional corporate image to build a strong understanding of strategic objectives.
* Driving forward the provision of continuous improvement of pathology services, by staying connected to the wider pathology and NHS network, that will see you make recommendations for improving the people, processes, tools, and technologies, to enhance and evolve the service provided.
* Support delivery of the Synnovis Research, Innovation and Development strategy to improve patient care and bring commercial benefit. Ensuring achievement of operational targets embedded into Service Level Agreements with internal and external customers, with a specific emphasis upon performance, quality, and achieving best value within budgetary constraints.

The partnership provides services to 1.7 million people living in South East London, as well as to hundreds of thousands of patients from outside the region who use local healthcare services.
The partnership provides diagnostics, testing and digital pathology for hospital trusts, GP services and other healthcare providers.

Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or have the relevant work experience at HCPC registered Healthcare scientist level.
* Hold a FIBMS or equivalent qualification.
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) including management and scientific learning.
* Hold HCPC registration.
* Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
* Fellowship of professional body or Chartered Scientist status.
* MBA or equivalent experience.
