We are looking for the next editor of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ’s flagship publication, Therapy Today. The successful candidate will lead the editorial strategy of the magazine to ensure it remains relevant, engaging, and reflective of the latest trends and debates within the profession. You will need to develop innovative content ideas that support professional growth and reflect the diversity of the counselling community. Your time will be really varied – from conducting an interview to jumping on a videocall with the client, from writing a brief and liaising with freelance journalists over copy queries to editing a submitted article. If you enjoy variety and challenge, this is the role for you. Other responsibilities will include: · Writing for the magazine, and re-purposing and repackaging work where required · Sub-editing and proofing content (Microsoft word and pdf stages) · Liaising with design to produce creative and accessible content · Recording one Therapy Today podcast per issue · Working with the BACP Communications team on social media to promote the magazine. About you: · Excellent journalistic skills (degree level or equivalent) and proven editorial experience, particularly in editing copy and proofreading, with immaculate attention to detail · An ability to create compelling content for a member organisation · Experience in commissioning · Solid project management experience · Deadline-driven · Good organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively · Confident in making decisions · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills · Exude enthusiasm and demonstrate drive · A willingness to understand the objectives of the client, its mission and its initiatives · Previous podcast experience · Hands-on experience with MS Office · General healthcare knowledge and/or experience of publishing for membership organisations is desirable but not essential · Preferably a BACP member.
