The role
As a People Co-ordinator, you’ll work in partnership with our Delivery Co-Ordinators to ensure seamless line management of our relevant teams of up to 45 staff within our Fleet Engineering business area.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide line management support including administration and application of people practices, policies, and processes for the industrial population within Fleet Engineering. Ensuring that all relevant personnel are compliant with Babcock people policies, fully trained and competent, and safe to discharge their duties.
* Work with our Delivery and Planning teams to ensure employees' workloads are managed efficiently and develop labour demand plans to ensure the most efficient use of resources.
* Ensure our people practices and policies are implemented and adhered to with the respective teams including the management of employee absence, performance, leave, and learning and development.
* Act on behalf of respective hiring teams as a “Hiring Manager” and participate in recruitment activities to ensure the continued appropriate staffing levels within Fleet Engineering.
* Undertake routine management activities to communicate with, engage, and motivate employees within assigned teams.
* Promote a safety-focused culture and continuous improvement mindset within teams, ensuring compliance with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation in line with ISO standards.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, from 8am – 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am until 12pm on a Friday and is based on site at HMNB Clyde, Helensburgh, Argyll, and Bute.
Essential experience of the People Co-ordinator
* Previously held line management responsibilities for large teams ideally from within an engineering or multi-disciplined business area.
* Demonstrate a solid understanding of general HR Policies and procedures associated with line management as well as knowledge of Risk Assessments, COSHH, HSE, and Quality.
* Previously managed resource allocation and workload balancing across multiple demands and disciplines including the end-to-end recruitment process.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills, able to manage conflicting demands and priorities by analysing the data available to make key decisions.
* Commercial awareness, particularly around the service provision commitments and the ability to manage and report on the performance of the business in line with those requirements.
Qualifications for the People Co-ordinator
* Ideally you will hold a leadership and management level 3 certification or equivalent; however, we value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and/or willingness to learn.
