WGM Engineering have an excellent opportunity for a Civils Operative to join our Engineered Solutions business stream, working on various sites throughout the central belt of Scotland. This role will be site-based and cover various locations across the region. Operatives are responsible for ensuring that site works are carried out efficiently in adherence to the required standards whilst adhering to company Health & Safety legislation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Adhere to both internal and client Health & Safety legislation
* Communicate with Site Management to ensure job is completed to desired specification
* Be competent in the use of small tools and driven plant holding the correct certification to complete the works
* Using hand machinery: drills, pumps, and compressors
* Complete appropriate paperwork for your daily works (job sheets / risk assessments / plant sheets / van sheets)
* Ensure you are briefed on RAMS for each job
* Experience of risk assessment and hazard identification with a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities
* Feedback near miss or safety issues to Ganger
* Be responsible for the company assets & plant assigned to you for the purpose of performing your duties
* Treat internal and external customers with respect and provide support at all times
* Ensure all works are carried out to required industry standards
* Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients
* Maintain company HSEQ standards to ensure continued compliance with legislation and industry standards
* Dig shallow holes and trenches by hand, although you would use an earth-moving machine for the main excavation
* Mix and pour concrete to make foundations, beams, or floors
* Attend all tool box talks as required
* Expected to train to Competent Person (CP) level in relation to Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) and Isolation Safety Rules (ISR) where appropriate to the role
To be considered for this position, you will have at least 1-2 years of previous experience within a similar role. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills and the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative. Due to the nature of the position, a full UK driving license is essential.
