We are working exclusively with a Not-for-Profit based in Cardiff to recruit a Health & Safety Manager. The role is paying £40,000 - £50,000 per anum, plus attractive benefits. Head of Health & Safety: Lead the Health & Safety and Facilities team, building the strategy for the function. Provide expert professional advice, knowledge, and skills to generate, facilitate, and maintain a positive health and safety culture. Complete accurate and timely reporting on Health and Safety associated risk and compliance information to the Executive team, Senior Managers and the Board of Trustees. Illustrate strong project management skills and the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external partners and stakeholders. Line management of a Health & Safety Officer. Championing health and safety activities across the organisation and encouraging a proactive health and safety-first culture. Ensure that all relevant health and safety legislation is adhered to across the organisation. Develop and maintain excellent systems to ensure that any accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported accurately and in a timely manner. Add value to any corporate or operational risk assessment for new or existing activity or service. Coordinate all interaction and relationships with relevant Enforcement Bodies and secure executive team agreement on programmes of action relating to Health & Safety. Build and maintain trusting relationships externally with landlords, partners, commissioners, and other organisations. Manage the Health and Safety budget across the organisation. Manage the Home Office application process ensuring compliance in line with regulations and application process for licenses. Ensure routine site audit visits are completed quarterly to all premises or areas where the charity are operating. Complete fire risk assessments. Develop and maintain IT-based records that track and evidence compliance with legislation. Manage the safe disposal of any waste materials, e.g. commercial waste/asbestos. Act as a key holder for the Head Office address and other office addresses and contribute to the out-of-hours on-call management system. Head of Health & Safety: Diploma awarded by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) or equivalent. NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety. IOSH Membership to Tech level or equivalent. Certificate in Facilities Management awarded by the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM). At least 3 year's of experience working within a Health & Safety leadership position. Strong working knowledge of current H&S legislation. Experience of conducting investigation procedures and producing management reports. Significant experience as a H&S practitioner with evidence of a strong track record in developing proactive H&S management systems and the provision of expert practical support and advice. Proven ability undertaking risk assessments, workplace inspections and audits and investigating accidents to drive safety improvements. Experience of operational management across various premises/work sites. Proven knowledge of IT applications and the ability to produce data, reports and presentations. Able to influence and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences including the Executive Team, Senior Managers, The Board of Trustees and external stakeholders such as commissioners and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Full clean UK driving license and own transport for work related travel. Head of Health & Safety: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum. 35 hours per week. Hybrid working.
