Therapeutic Ambassador
Role Profile
Role Purpose
Key accountabilities:
1. Support and develop the mental and physical health and wellbeing of children in our care.
2. Provide life skills and development activities that build independence, appreciation of equality, diversity, confidence, and resilience in children.
3. Enable and support children to engage with the education system positively.
4. Understand what section of care the children are always under and work within this.
5. Conduct administration and domestic duties for the home to run effectively and compliantly.
Responsibilities
1. Support and develop the mental and physical health and wellbeing of children in our care:
* Ensure all aspects of care are applied consistently in line with the Children’s Home Regulations Quality Standards.
* Attend LAC meetings and complete the necessary paperwork to support these.
* Apply effective methods to ensure the wellbeing of children including risk assessment, core plans, and learning about individual needs.
* Proactively address the mental wellbeing of the children through effective stimulation, support, comfort, therapy, and consistency.
* Work within the set boundaries for each child to ensure a consistent approach.
* Understand and work within the individual health needs of each child, which may include but are not limited to:
o Eating and diet plans where appropriate.
o Administering the correct medication.
o Attending medical/hospital appointments/health checks/dental/CAMHS.
* Engage and work in partnership with multiple agencies to gain the right support for each child.
2. Provide life skills and development activities that build independence:
* Work within the agreed ‘independence plan’ for each child, tracking and monitoring progression.
* Assist the children to set aims and goals and support them in achieving these.
* Develop and support children in developing key skills from basic hygiene, daily chores, shopping, and economic management.
* Encourage and coach the children to make the right choices and take responsibility for their actions and behaviours.
* Ensure consistent consequences are applied to children based on actions and behaviours.
* Support and enable the children to access the community in a positive and responsible manner.
3. Enable and support children to engage with the education system positively:
* Support and encourage school attendance.
* Undertake necessary transport arrangements to ensure children commute safely to school.
* Help and support children in the completion of homework.
* Attend school meetings, events, and trips.
* Promote positive behaviours and actions through appropriate reward systems and sanctions.
* Support and coach children in creating CVs and preparing for interviews.
4. Understand the care section the children are under and work within this:
* Participate in multi-agency meetings to gather and share information to support the children.
* Facilitate and support family time and relationships where applicable.
* Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
5. Conduct administration and domestic duties for the home:
* Conduct necessary domestic duties and maintenance work within the home environment.
* Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including:
o Daily running records and observations.
o Contact notes.
o Incident reports.
o Health and safety checks.
o Meal/activities/residence meeting logs.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00-£15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week

Education:
* GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
* Residential Childcare: 1 year (preferred)

* NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
