An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and self-motivated Midwife to lead a team of Midwives who care for women in a community setting. The team is based within our Queen Charlottes & Chelsea Hospital catchment area.
We need a motivated and dynamic midwife to lead our community teams of midwives and maternity support workers to ensure continuity of care and carer to our diverse population. Midwives on this team are involved in running antenatal/postnatal clinics from local children’s centres as well as conducting home visits. They also provide parent education classes and breastfeeding support sessions. You will be an enthusiastic, confident clinical practitioner with experience in various midwifery settings, ideally within the community but this is not essential. Your ability to influence others will be integral to this role.
The post involves 50% clinical hours and 50% management hours. This includes covering on-calls for homebirths (3-4 times per month), providing cover for maternity escalation and working in partnership with our safeguarding team.
We are looking for Midwives who are ideally car drivers, due to the size of the catchment areas.

Main duties of the job
1. The post holder is expected to be an expert clinical midwife who will give advice and guidance on the midwifery care of women and pregnant people and their families
2. To lead and coordinate the day to day running of the antenatal/postnatal clinics and home visits and support the home birth service
3. To work collaboratively with the Matrons to provide and develop high quality, safe and effective service
4. To work collaboratively with patients and user representatives to develop the service in response to feedback received, including local and national initiatives
5. Be a mentor to qualified midwives, students and support staff
6. To be directly responsible for staff management, recruitment, health and safety, audits and standard setting
