Singh & Jones are working with a well-known Facade Contractor based across the UK. Due to high demand and large project wins, my client is keen to step up their hunt for an experienced Design Manager reporting into my client's Midlands office, but can be based remotely. The client is keen to hear from Design Managers who have a Curtain Wall, Cladding, and Full envelope background.
Responsibilities:
1. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to other members of the design team in India & UK.
2. Supervision and production of detailed Construction Drawings.
3. Liaising with clients to proactively deal with any discrepancies within project documentation/specification and arranging meetings as necessary.
4. Preparation of design budgets for tender submissions.
5. Produce, monitor and adjust, as may be required, Design programmes reflecting the required timely production of design output. Monitor, control and report on the expenditure of design budgets at monthly CVR meetings.
6. Allocation and adjustment, as may be necessary, of staff and sub-contracted resources to ensure design output meets project requirements in consultation with the Company’s Operation’s Managers.
7. Understand the design output requirements of the Company’s Projects with respect to tendered scope of works, selection of suitable materials and systems, taking into account Specified requirements, and International Standards, Building Regulations, manufacturer’s recommendations and good practice within our special sector of construction.
8. Consider the project specific design in respect of the Company’s Statutory obligations under the CDM Regulations.
9. Liaison with external Consultants and Sub-Contract Designers as is necessary to ensure the design output is adequate for the purposes intended and is being produced in a timely and efficient manner.
10. Contribute to the prompt resolution of design related problems that may arise on Contracts and for which the Company’s Project Managers require approved designs to be re-considered.
11. Contribute to the recruitment and development of human resources within the Department in consultation with the Technical Director who has executive responsibility for the Department.
12. Manage the project design team to ensure design output achieves the agreed budget and programme.
13. Present solutions and technical assistance to the pre-construction, operations and commercial departments.
14. Identify training requirements and development opportunities for the design department.
The ideal candidate must have a strong background in managing facade design projects, overseeing design personnel in India, and running projects independently.
