As an O&M Engineer (Mechanical) at Markinch Combined Heat & Power Plant, you will play a key role in the delivery of Operational and Maintenance requirements. Utilizing your background knowledge and experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering, specifically in modern heavy industry, you will be expected to provide a high level of asset specific technical knowledge and competence within the discipline area to the Operations and Maintenance team. Supporting the technicians in order to deliver challenging operational, technical and commercial targets. Maintain plant area knowledge and expertise within maintenance discipline ensuring risk-based maintenance techniques are applied to deliver safe, flexible and reliable plant.
You will work in a team environment and report directly to the Markinch Maintenance Manager. You will be expected to work in close collaboration with your colleagues within Maintenance, Operations, Asset Management, and Engineering.
About the role:
* Lead and actively promote a safety culture aligned with Mission Zero, prioritizing performance and safety climate.
* Ensure compliance with maintenance policies and procedures for plant and equipment within the discipline area.
* Develop and enhance Local Maintenance Strategies to align with the Asset Strategy, balancing cost efficiency and asset longevity.
* Make informed decisions by balancing short-term commercial goals with long-term asset integrity.
* Plan and deliver minor and major outages, demonstrating project management expertise.
* Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes to address and resolve issues effectively.
* Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to safely and efficiently plan, execute, and commission outages while developing cross-discipline flexibility and skills.
Job Requirements and Experience:
* Demonstrate a strong HSE and wellbeing mindset, prioritizing safety and health in all activities.
* Possess a background in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum HND qualification; a degree in an engineering discipline is advantageous.
* Exhibit technical expertise in fuel handling equipment, including conveyor systems, large bearings, lubrication systems, slewing devices, and drag chains.
* Bring several years of professional experience in the energy sector or other process industries.
* Capable of line-managing a small team of technicians and craftspeople effectively.
* Display strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in business IT systems like Microsoft Office, SAP, and maintenance management systems.
* Adaptable and flexible in supporting site needs, including flexible work hours, retraining, and acquiring new skills.
* Role model desired values and behaviors, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and putting station goals above personal or departmental objectives.

* An expected starting salary from £53,000 to £62,000 depending on experience and up to 15% annual bonus.
