We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Partner to sit within the Finance Planning and Partnering team within Wellcome Sanger Institute, supporting the wider Finance team whilst other team members support the ERP project. This is a fixed term contract, due to expire end Dec 2026.
About the Role:
The purpose of the role is to provide temporary backfill support to the Finance team whilst the Institute implements an ERP system. The role is primarily a Finance Partner role however some flexibility may be required to support the wider Finance team with ad hoc tasks and projects.
The key aspects of the role include building trusted business relationships, supporting financial decision making, delivering impactful financial reporting, providing expert guidance, maintaining robust internal controls and driving continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for:
This role will span many disciplines from budgeting and forecasting, reporting and third party grant management. You may at times be also asked to support the grants team and financial accounting for ad hoc tasks and projects.
About You:
You will be a confident and capable finance professional, with strong technical skills including Excel. You will bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to your work. You will thrive on building trusted relationships, translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights. Interpersonal skills will be key, as well as the ability to pivot and work on different types of tasks.
Essential Technical Skills:
* Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent or equivalent working experience (g1) Part qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (g2)
* Experience working in financial accounting/financial partnering/finance management (g1/g2)
* Strong grasp of fundamental principles behind budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling, activity based costing and other management accounting concepts together with a pragmatic mind-set (g1/g2)
* Advanced Excel skills (including but not limited to pivot tables, lookups, formulae, graphs etc) (g1)

About Us:
Our Financial Planning & Partnering team plays a key role in supporting Sanger's science and operations. Working closely with budget-holders across the Institute, we help teams plan, forecast and manage their funding effectively. We provide clear financial reporting, offer guidance on budgets, and support strategic decisions through financial modelling and business cases. We also collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to develop strong proposals for third-party funding and major contracts, ensuring financial sustainability for the Institute's work.

Salary range (Dependant on skills and experience):
Grade 1 Finance Partner £51,268 to £60,000 G1 Role profile
Grade 2 Finance Partner Associate £40,804 to £48,000 G2 Role profile
