We’re looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join the IT department to help us fulfil the ambitious goals of the organisation. Many of these goals need to be supported with quality data and our ability to process this data at scale.
As a Junior Data Engineer, you will join a data engineering team with a broad skillset in the data space.
You will work closely with one of our product teams, agilely, to ensure data is imported & transformed accurately and timely from both internal and external data stores. You’ll work with the Product Owner to deliver new data processing requirements and changes to existing pipelines.
You'll be responsible for supporting and maintaining our existing data ingestion pipelines, ensuring the smooth operation of our data processing services and the delivery of a reliable data offering to our customers.
The Junior Data Engineer will:
Work with the Product Owner to scope, plan & estimate new data processing needs
Build data pipelines (SQL/ SSIS) to ingest data from internal/ external data stores and transform the data as needed
Work with the wider product team to ensure data deliveries are fit for purpose & relevant
Have sound T-SQL knowledge and be able to debug, optimise, and performance tune existing SQL Server procedures/ functions
Be able to work to sometimes tight timescales and adapt as source data changes without warning
Have knowledge of cloud data pipeline tools (AWS preferred). Be passionate about data quality and the service we provide through data to our customers
Understand the difference between structured data, unstructured and semi-structured data and the different ways each can be processed
Be overseen/ mentored by an experienced data engineer
Are passionate, curious and excited about data
SQL Server (T-SQL, Query Optimisation, Indexing, Partitioning)
SSIS
Data Exploration (Postman, WSDL, JSON)
Python
Knowledge of AWS data processing technologies (Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Athena)
