We need a Tourist Information Centre (TIC) Customer Advisor for Bridlington TIC, to give tourism advice and help customers get the most out of their visit to East Yorkshire by providing an efficient and effective tourist information service.
Hours and days of work will vary seasonally due to customer demand. You will be contracted to 18 hours but could work more some weeks and less others; however, it will always balance to an average of 18 hours per week over the year.
You may be required to work Saturdays or Sundays throughout the year and cover bank holidays, staff holidays, and sickness; therefore, a flexible approach is essential.
Duties
1. Providing a first-class tourist information service and responding to all customer enquiries.
2. Promoting and upselling the East Yorkshire Tourism offer to customers.
3. Maintaining storage and display of retail and promotional material.
4. Generating income by retail, tickets, and service sales, including cash handling, cash returns, and banking.
5. Collecting, collating, updating, researching, and inputting tourist information, TIC statistical data, and maintaining records on TIC systems.
Minimum Requirements
Excellent communication skills, customer care experience, and the ability to deal with a variety of customers are essential. Specialist tourism knowledge of Bridlington and the East Yorkshire area, a good standard of education, and excellent ICT skills with experience in researching data, data input, and retrieval are also required.
Teamwork plays a vital role within our service; therefore, you should be friendly, enthusiastic, and able to use your initiative while working to a consistently high standard.
This position will involve working alone, reporting to the TIC Supervisor, and being part of a small but effective team that delivers a high level of customer service to boost the value and volume of visits to Bridlington and East Yorkshire.
You may also be required to cover at Beverley TIC.
