Traffic Systems Engineer
Working Pattern: 37 hrs per week - Monday to Sunday
Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2
Via is currently looking for a Traffic Systems Engineer to join our Highway Infrastructure services Team based at our Office in West Bridgford, Nottingham.
You will deliver a range of traffic signal and associated communication projects and provide specialist services to enhance and maintain the network.
The Job
Key areas of responsibility will include:
* Design and manage the delivery of traffic signal projects, which may be complex and significant, to achieve quality, programme and financial targets.
* Provide specialist design, technical and cost advice to both internal and external clients and bodies.
* Manage the evaluation and authorisation of externally designed engineering schemes.
* Collaborate with Via’s Construction and Commercial Division to manage workflow thereby achieving company business plan objectives.
* Ensure adherence to Health and Safety management systems, processes and requirements ensuring full compliance to health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practice.
* Manage consultation, communication and liaison with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Prepare all data necessary for the commissioning of new and existing traffic signal and intelligent traffic systems installations.
* Act as an ambassador for individual schemes and the Company across professional, business and community events and networks at local and regional level.
The Person
Mainly you will be excited to be a vital part of our Highway Infrastructure Services Team, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you:
* Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or a related subject and post qualification relevant experience or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a traffic signals environment.
* Strong ICT skills including competence in specialist computer applications used to support traffic engineering design activities.
* Working knowledge of current traffic signal design standards, contracts, and procedures.
* Experience of providing information, communicating and working collaboratively.
* Experience of managing project budgets and financial reporting of project programme.
* Experience of all stages of project implementation from feasibility to construction on site.
* A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to set an example to other staff.
* Full UK driving licence.
