About the Role:
As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll provide essential care, guidance, and emotional support to students. Your role will include working closely with teaching and pastoral staff to create a safe and nurturing environment. You'll support students with their daily routines, help with homework, and encourage positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities of a Residential Support Worker:
* Provide emotional and physical support to students in their daily routines.
* Foster independence and life skills in a structured environment.
* Help with educational support, including homework and revision.
* Promote a safe, supportive environment following safeguarding policies.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
* Manage behaviour using positive strategies and de-escalation techniques.
* Keep accurate records of student progress and incidents.
Requirements for a Residential Support Worker Role:
* Experience in residential support, education, or care settings.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, NVQ in Health & Social Care).
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
* Experience working with young people with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviours.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Flexible and patient, with the ability to manage challenging situations.
* Valid enhanced DBS (or willing to apply for one).
