We are seeking an experienced sonographer to join our friendly team on the Bedford hospital site.
Our ultrasound team consists of sonographers, midwife sonographers. radiologists and Clinical support workers.
We currently have 11 sonographer to include one lead sonographer and deputy, one SSS and deputy.
Two of our sonographers are specialists in MSK and small parts scanning.
We are committed to training and development and have a robust in house training and preceptorship programme.
We support two ultrasound trainees per academic year.
The post holder will be responsible for organising and co-ordinating the workload in the area to which they are assigned .
The post holder will rotate through the main and obstetric ultrasound departments and also work in our Community Diagnostic Centre, autonomously performing and reporting a wide range of ultrasound examinations to include General, gynaecological, obstetric and DVT examinations.
Both inpatient and outpatient examinations will be conducted.
All scans will be performed according to departmental and Trust wide policies and guidelines.
Both CRIS and PACS are used for generating reports.
Obstetric sonographers must be proficient in all aspects of the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme .
Obstetric growth scans will be conducted according to GROW version 2.0 protocol.

• To make an accurate diagnosis from the ultrasound scan and to issue a factual report for each scan performed, collaborating with professional colleagues when necessary.
• To safely use all ultrasound equipment, to be able to resolve first line problems, recording accurate details of equipment faults and reporting faults, liaising with and supervising engineers.
• To accurately input details on to both the Radiology Information System(CRIS) and PACS
• To interrogate the system(s) for patient details, updating and recording information as required.
• To understand the appointment system for the speciality/ area(s) in which the sonographer works.
