Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies An opportunity has arisen for an experienced researcher to contribute to an EPSRC funded project, developing photonic crystal surface emitting lasers (PCSELs). You will commission test and characterization apparatus, develop simulation and design software, and design epitaxial structures. You will assist in developing funding applications and present results at national and/or international meetings. You will be educated to PhD standard or equivalent, and have relevant research and innovation experience, gained within the Higher Education or Industrial sector. You will have experience in PCSEL development, in terms of simulation, design, manufacture, and characterization. You will have experience of disseminating your work, have practical skills in laser diode manufacture, and in automating test apparatus for PCSEL characterization. You will have excellent written and verbal skills; the ability to prioritize to meet tight deadlines; and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
