We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused individual to join the Recruitment & Admissions team with the Doctoral College. The team is responsible for administering admissions for the university's PhD and professional doctorate programmes, as well as managing multiple funding competitions associated with doctoral study. About the role The Recruitment & Admissions team members work closely together to provide a friendly, fair and equitable admissions process which allows applicants from across the globe to present themselves and their qualifications in the best possible way, and empowers members of academic staff to recruit the very best doctoral students. You will have responsibility for a portfolio of programmes and your duties will include: answering enquiries and providing advice and guidance to pre-applicants, applicants and offer holders; liaising with academic colleagues, internal professional services representatives and other university staff members are well as external agencies; appraising and processing applications for doctoral study; administering doctoral funding competitions; assisting with wider doctoral recruitment activities. About you To be successful in the role, you will need to be highly organised, able to manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities and have an excellent eye for detail, thus enabling the team to uphold its high standards in recruitment and admissions, and ensuring that our services are efficient and effective. You will also need to uphold University admissions regulations, as well as compliance issues relating to fees and funding, student immigration and contracts. In addition, it is essential that you recognise and value good communication and that you are comfortable working on your own initiative whilst, at the same time, remaining receptive to helping out your colleagues when their workload is heavy. We are currently working to improve our systems and processes, so being able to adapt and work with change is key. Further information This is a part-time role (21.9 hours per week) available on a fixed term basis until February 2026. The team follows a hybrid model of working; we work in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays and we usually work from home from Wednesday to Friday inclusive. You may choose to work 3 full days per week or to spread your hours over 4 or 5 days, but you will be required to work on Tuesdays and come to the office on that day.
