Job overview
There is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, advanced physiotherapist with experience in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy to join our team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay.
The post will be based at Furness General Hospital and will involve working closely with the X-bay team. The post holder will manage a caseload covering Obstetrics, Gynaecology inpatients, and outpatients with inpatient Breast Care provision. The team works closely with the urogynaecology MDT, consultants, midwives, and GPs. The post holder will support the development of Pelvic Health physiotherapy colleagues in the cross bay team.
The Cross bay team includes a further Advanced Physiotherapist and a team of Specialist Physiotherapy colleagues across the sites.
The trust is involved in the PPHS NHS improvement programme and is currently an implementer site. An element of your role will include representing the trust in this project.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for sharing the leadership of the Pelvic Health team, implementing service development in line with current evidence and standards, and delivering training for physiotherapists, students, and the wider MDT. The role will include staff management and service management responsibilities such as completing probation reports, managing absence, and completing annual appraisals.
Duties will include clinical leadership of the service from FGH and throughout the cross bay Pelvic Health Team, leading on service development and delivering in-service training to further develop skills within the specialty.
The successful applicant will be an effective team player, have the ability to use their initiative, and communicate with empathy. They will embrace innovation and integrated working and be committed to following best practices to ensure patient-centered care.
Previous managerial experience is desirable with the ability to demonstrate a commitment to clinical leadership.
You will be expected to be an unsupervised member of the respiratory on-call rota, providing evening and public holiday cover, to be discussed as dependent on experience and skill.
You will be part of the wider Therapy leadership team with opportunities to take on additional leadership managerial responsibilities.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase, and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Qualifications
* Health Professions Council Registered Physiotherapist
* Honours Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy approved by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy/Health & Care Professions Council
* Evidence of relevant postgraduate specialist courses/training to Masters module level or equivalent in Specialty
* Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
* Membership of a relevant Clinical Interest group
Skills
* Ability to think quickly, assess clinical situations and take decisions upon that information
* Must demonstrate a knowledge of team/group dynamics and understand the role of a Team Lead/Advanced Physiotherapist within a team
* To have a knowledge of audit tools and experience of audit
* To have a clear understanding of the role of an Advanced Physiotherapist in the approach of their professional duties in an acute hospital
* A clear understanding of legal responsibilities including safeguarding and professional standards
* Must be willing and able to travel in and around the Morecambe Bay Area
Experience
* Comprehensive experience in Women's Health Physiotherapy at specialist level or above
* Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills in English in a variety of settings
* Evidence of working within an MDT within secondary care
* Evidence of providing clinical and team leadership
* Experience of weekend and respiratory on-call duties
