A leading specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) school in Oxford is seeking a full-time Mental Health Assistant to support children aged 4-11 with complex needs, emotional regulation difficulties, and behavioural challenges.
This role is perfect for Psychology, Counselling or Criminology graduates hoping to gain hands-on experience as a Mental Health Assistant before progressing into therapy, SEN teaching, or educational psychology.
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:
1. Provide one-to-one and group support for children with SEMH, trauma, and behavioural difficulties.
2. Work closely with therapists, psychologists and other Mental Health Assistants.
3. Build therapeutic relationships and deliver child-centred support.
4. Observe clinical interventions and receive valuable mentoring.
Requirements:
1. Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or similar (Level 3+ also considered).
2. Experience supporting individuals with SEN or mental health needs is highly desirable.
3. Strong communication skills and a passion for child development and mental health.
