Tutor for Sociology
Full Time. To commence 20th August 2025.
Salary: Points 1-9 of the Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff pay spine, currently £32,178- £49,725 per annum
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational teacher with excellent subject knowledge and a proven track record of success to contribute to our popular AS, A Level and GCSE Sociology courses. The successful candidate will be joining our talented and supportive Sociology team, which sits within the outstanding Humanities Curriculum Area. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning, building positive relationships with students, undertaking regular assessment of students' work with timely feedback, and developing the curriculum to enable Sociology students to succeed.
The ability to teach Criminology and or Sociology GCSE would be an advantage.
This post would be a great opportunity for both experienced teachers and ECTs looking to access our outstanding support and dedicated mentor system.
Sociology at OSFC
Sociology is the most popular subject to study at OSFC, typically attracting 300 students in Year 12 and retaining 220 students in Year 13. Following the AQA specification, Sociology at OSFC covers Education, Families & Households and Research Methods in the first year and Beliefs in Society, Crime & Deviance and Theory & Methods in the second.
The Sociology team pride ourselves on both the quality and consistency of the student experience we achieve with such a large cohort of students and a large teaching team. We have a shared vision to be the first choice for Sociology in Oldham, get great outcomes for our students and offer a wide range of external speakers, trips and other opportunities for our students.
Oldham Sixth Form College
