Role: Safeguarding Manager Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 Location: Lambeth and Chelmsford Type: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter MLK Search is excited to be supporting this 'Outstanding' Independent, trauma-centred therapeutic group of schools in London and Essex who are seeking to appoint a Deputy Safeguarding Manager from January 2025. All pupils have EHCPs for adverse childhood experiences and SEMH needs. The school caters for all National Curriculum subjects and learning is linked to children’s curriculum and individual needs, progress plans and assessment of learning and achievement. This leadership position is a full-time role focused on supporting the Senior Vice Principal for Safeguarding across all schools in Lambeth and Chelmsford. The role includes responsibility for safeguarding including liaison with external agencies, responding to safeguarding concerns as they arise, compiling reports and attending meetings. The Deputy Safeguarding Manager will work closely with the Senior Vice Principal to maintain the consistently robust and effective safeguarding culture across their independent special schools. As a qualified Social Worker and/or experienced Deputy/Designated Safeguarding Lead, the role includes responding to concerns, allegations and complaints. It will focus on attendance and supporting hard-to-reach families in order to provide sector-leading support. The Deputy Safeguarding Manager will have oversight of risk assessments, medication and care plans for identified pupils, and will organise and lead staff training, which may include planning and delivering workshops. Responsibilities include: supporting with staff inductions and training oversight of all pupils who are CP/CIN/CLA attending conferences and meetings and leading on safeguarding concerns and referrals. The DSM will be confident in using the schools MIS (Arbor) and online portals such as MyConcern and Medical tracker. The successful applicant will not have a specific ‘base’; but will work from different schools on different days, in both London and Essex, as agreed with the senior vice principal. You will be a role model of outstanding practice, and an ambassador for the therapeutic approach for which the school is well known.
